This Summer, Shelley and her family went to the absolutely dreamy coast of Spain for Summer holiday. More specifically, Nerja. Nerja is in the Andalusia region of Spain and known for it's gorgeous coastline, caves and ancient Roman history. Read on for her travel tips and gorgeous pics wearing Allegra & Luca - the perfect looks for traveling everywhere!
Why did you choose this location and have you been there before?
We chose Nerja in Spain as we have been going since Daisy was a tiny baby and we just know we will always have an amazing holiday there. It has everything all of us could ask for, a pool in the apartments, gorgeous beaches, fab tapas bars and fancier restaurants for a treat. It also has amazing places to visit on its doorstep. Over the years we have visited Frigiliana, La Herradura, Malaga, Granada, lots of villages within the Alpujarras mountains, including Soportujar, Lanjaron, Bubion, and Pampaneira. It really is our favourite place to go and we all never want to come home.
Do you think it was great for kids?
Absolutely brilliant for the kids. They prefer to be around the pool or at the beach now they are a little older but once we are out and about seeing the sites they love that as there is so much to see and do. They also love that there are ice cream parlours everywhere-which of an afternoon this year they were allowed to visit with their friends. They also love churros and chocolate for breakfast, paddle boarding and going on a pedalo - all of which you can hire on the beach, the shops that sell all sorts. I could go on.
What was your favorite meal on the trip and where was it?
It is always tapas, there is something so gorgeous about being in the heat of the evening and getting small amounts of delicious food to eat. But if we are treating ourselves we love Restaurante 34. Magnificent food in a beautiful setting.
What's the itinerary for a perfect day in this location?
OK, breakfast of churros and chocolate at Cuatro Esquinas. Coffee for the adults and Cola Coa for the kids. Then down to El Salon beach. Lunch at Bar Turry-their tapas is super fresh and amazing, then back to the pool so the kids can play with their friends who have all been going the same amount of years as us. We usually go in to get ready at about 7pm and then decide where to eat and drink. Cochrans is always good to start as the views of the sea are beautiful, we have even watched dolphins jumping in and out of the water. We love El Pulguilla, Esquina Paulina and El Puntilla. Many of our favourite tapas bars are not fancy but are full of the locals which we love. Others we always visit are La Rienda and Pepe Moles. Ooh and Ortiz for the BEST croissants.
